The Virginia Marine Resources Commission invites public comment on a proposed expenditure from the Virginia Saltwater Recreational Fishing Development Fund to contribute $144,200.00 to the construction of a Lancaster County public fishing pier. This proposed public fishing pier will be located at Windmill Point, at the mouth of the Rappahannock River.
The proposed pier would be built in two phases. During Phase 1 the proposed pier would be extended to 175 feet by June 20, 1997, and during Phase 2 the length of the proposed pier would be extended from 175 to 625 feet by December 31, 1997.
The Lancaster County Board of Supervisors has applied for funding from the Virginia Saltwater Recreational Fishing Development Fund, in order to complete Phase 2 of the project. At its October 21 meeting, the Virginia Recreational Fishing Advisory Board voted in favor of recommending this project to the Commission.
In accordance with §;28.2-209 of the Code of Virginia, a public hearing to consider funding this project will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, November 26, 1996 at the Virginia Marine Resources Commission, 2600 Washington Avenue, Newport News. Written comments on the projects should be provided to Jack Travelstead, VMRC Fisheries Management Division, P. O. Box 756, Newport News, VA 23607, prior to 12:00 Noon, November 25, 1996.
