Publice Notice: Pertaining to Restrictions on Oyster Harvest 2002


The Virginia Marine Resources Commission (VMRC) invites public comment on proposed amendments to the Regulations listed below.

In accordance with §28.2-209 of the Code of Virginia, a public hearing on these proposals will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, October 22, 2002 at the office of the Marine Resources Commission, 2600 Washington Avenue, 4th Floor, Newport News, Virginia. Any interested person may offer testimony. Regulation 4 VAC 20-720-80. Pertaining to Restrictions on Oyster Harvest.

The Commission proposes to repeal the provision requiring forfeiture of all harvested oysters and revocation of the dredge gear license for the remainder of the season when a harvester fails to report oyster harvest or violates any requirement for the harvesting of oysters.

Regulation 4 VAC 20-430-20. Marking Procedures for Drift and Anchored Gill nets.

The Commission proposes to repeal or modify the provision requiring that end-marker flags on the same gill net, or the flag and floating ball on the same net be of identical color.
