Shore Seafood, Inc. Andy Drewer Site Description: The growout location is in Fishing Creek on the eastern shore of Pocomoke Sound near Saxis. The growout location is on lease number 18240 in water depths of 2 feet at mlw. The growout location is protected on all sides by land and marsh and has a soft mud bottom. The emergency management site is in the nearby Town of Saxis. Deployment Method: Oysters will be grown in Taylor floats and in cages within two floating rafts. Approximately 40,000 oysters will be grown in various cages, racks and bags within two 16' X 24' X 4' floating rafts. The rafts have slotted wooden floors and sides to allow water circulation. Within the raft, various rack and bag systems will be tried. At least 20,000 oysters will be contained within each rack. There will be 50 to 100 oysters per cage within the rack at an average density of 50 oysters per square foot. The remaining 60,000 oysters will be grown in 2' X 8' Taylor floats with 1,000 oysters per float at final density. Each float will be attached end to end in a line and with approximately 3' between floats. Emergency Management Plan: The growout site is very protected from winds and northeasters. For hurricane warnings of Category 3 and greater, the bags will be brought to shore and placed in the crab shedding floats at Saxis. Ice movement should have little or no effect on the rack or cages in the creek. Andy Drewer will train his employees in the handling methods for his aquaculture system and will be responsible for implementing the Emergency Management Plan.
