Purcells Seafood
Richard Harding

Site Description:
The growout locations are in the Little Wicomico River on leases 13881 and 15553. The emergency management site is further up the river at the seafood processing plant. Both growout locations are in water depths less than 5 feet at mlw on hard sand and shells. This location is protected from wind exposure in all directions.

Deployment Method:
The oysters will be grown in soft crab shedding tanks and with longline bags. Approximately 20,000 of the oysters will be grown entirely in soft crab tanks in a building on land where water is pumped continuously over 1,000 oysters per 4' X 8' crab tank at final growout density. Each tank has no contact with adjacent tanks. The remaining 80,000 oysters will be grown in aquaculture growout bags at final densities of 150 per bag with bags in a longline spread approximately 3 feet apart.

Emergency Management Plan:
This entire site is protected from wind events. Land protects this river from all sides. The longlines will be tended regularly to determine the impact of small wind events. The longline bags will be on the bottom and anchored, and will therefore not be subject to ice damage or movement.

Richard Harding is experienced in oyster aquaculture and will be responsible for training any additional help required.
