Background:

The fishing pier, concrete walkway, and storage shed were completed in April of 2008. The City of Norfolk received $215,850 from the VSRFDF to complete the U-shaped recreational and educational fishing pier.  The pier extends approximately 134 feet into Pretty Lake.  The water depth at the U-head is around 14 feet.  The pier and parking lots are completely handicapped accessable.  The Community Center has about 73 parking spaces in two lots at the front of the building.  The pier has no fee; however, an individual saltwater fishing license is required.  The pier is open from sunrise to sunset. Pretty Lake is known for catches of croaker, spot, grey and speckled seatrout, striped bass, and blue crab.  The Community Center also provides restroom facilities, playground areas, covered picnic tables, and fishing equipment.
