2020 Commercial Fishing Registration and Gear Licenses
Due to the closure of
Virginia Marine Resources due to COVID-19, 2020 Commercial Fishing
Registration License
renewals were extended past the normal April 30th deadline. This extension
will terminate on August 31, 2020.
After August 31st, a 2020
Commercial Fishing Registration License and 2020 gear licenses or permits associated with
your Commercial Fishing Registration License to include crab pots, gill nets, and oyster
gear will be required to fish.
If you intend to register please mail
your renewal form with a check or money order prior to August 31st. The VMRC
headquarters office is closed to the public due to COVID-19 however, mail is
being processed.
If your renewal is not postmarked by this day you
will miss the deadline and your only option to reenter the fishery is to
enter the two year delay entry program or apply for an exception to the
program.
Please note that we cannot process any renewals for CFL
holders that are in non-compliance for reporting. In addition, no oyster
gear licenses will be issued for those that are required to renew their
shellfish safety training.
Renewal applications must be complete
with all information and be signed by the applicant.
