Pot numbers are required for all Crab Pot, Peeler Pot, Fish/Eel Pot and Channeled Whelk licenses. Effective January 1, 2001, all commercial pot numbers must consist of the licensee's VMRC ID from their Commercial Registration License, preceded with a C, P, F or W.
Crab pot - C-1234
Peeler pot - P-1234
Fish/Eel pot - F-1234 (4VAC20-140-10)
Channeled Whelk - W-1234 (4VAC20-890-10)
Additionally, recreational crab pot numbers will consist of the last four digits of the social security number or drivers license number, preceded with "R".
