Public Meeting for Chesapeake Bay Oyster Recover Program, Tangier-Pocomoke Sound, Virginia Project: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk District (USACE) and the Commonwealth of Virginia Marine Resources Commission (VMRC) invite the public to attend an informational meeting about the future Tangier-Pocomoke Sound, Virginia Project, under the Section 704(b), Chesapeake Bay Oyster Recovery Program. The purpose of the meeting is to provide the public an opportunity to learn more about the ecosystem restoration project and for the public to provide input on potential restoration measures and locations within the Tangier-Pocomoke Sound region including but not limited to: offshore oyster reefs (both rotational harvest and sanctuary) and nearshore oyster reefs along the shorelines of Tangier, Saxis, and Watts Island. ASMFC - 03/07/2024, 5:00 PM: The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) has scheduled Virginia’s American Yellow Eel Harvest Cap Draft Addendum VII public hearing for March 7th, 2024 starting at 5 pm, this meeting is scheduled for 2 hours. The meeting will take place in person at VMRC’s main office in the Commission Room and is open to the public. ASMFC staff will be presenting information about Draft Addendum VII which considers management measures to reduce the commercial yellow eel coastwide harvest cap in response to the 2023 benchmark stock assessment, which found the stock remains depleted. Below you will find ASMFC's news release for all of the public hearings and an overview of what will be discussed and how to submit public comments if you cannot attend the meeting in person.
